CMHA Mission Statement

The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), exists to promote the mental health of British Columbians, and support the resilience and recovery of people experiencing mental illness.

We believe in:

  • Social justice
  • Individual and collective responsibility
  • Access to appropriate and adequate resources and supports
  • Self-determination
  • Maximum community integration
  • Working in partnerships

We believe that these elements are critical to mental health and a personally satisfying quality of life. CMHA accomplishes this mission through advocacy, education, research and service.

CMHA KAMLOOPS BRANCH INFORMATION
The Canadian Mental Health Association is a national nonprofit organization made up of provincial bodies and local branches. Our Kamloops branch is one of 23 in British Columbia. We began as the Nicola Achievement Centre in 1982 and incorporated under Canadian Mental Health Association in 1992 as a not for profit, registered charity. We receive funding from the Interior Health authority, BC Housing Management Commission, BC Gaming Commission, United Way and private tax-deductible donations. CMHA-Kamloops is dedicated to raising awareness and promoting the mental health of all people within the communities we serve. We are able to achieve this through the services we offer directly through our Clubhouse programs, advocacy, volunteer opportunities and public education.
