Canadian Mental Health Association is gearing up for the second annual CMHA Art Calendar. We are looking for people who live in the Thompson-Nicola area and have a mental illness to submit their original art work for the 2009 Art Calendar!

About the Cover: Greg K. Jones (1961-2006) – painted the landscape painting on the cover of our calendar. Greg suffered from a mental illness, as do all of the artists in this calendar. He was primarily a self-taught artist, or as his grandmother put it, “He picked up a pencil at the age of two and never put it down.” He admired and was influenced by the realist school of paintings by Robert Bateman and Brent Townsend considering them “unofficial mentors.” Greg was a multitalented artist who loved music and played lead guitar in a jazz band. As a fan of the blues, he liked Stevie Ray Vaughan and played a twelve-string guitar.
